Wilma J. (Davis) Driggers, born on August 19, 1944, passed away on Saturday August 8, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 75. Wilma fought a tough battle against leukemia, but she did not lose that battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined to fight. She never lost faith along the way, and that faith opened the doors to Heaven. Even on her sickest days, there was no quitting. She leaned on her faith even more. Even though she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight. She went running into the arms of Jesus.
Those that knew Wilma loved her. She was the sweetest, kindest, and most caring person you could ever meet. She worried about others more than she worried about herself. She was a dedicated and hard worker at St. Mary’s Hospital where she retired from. She was a faithful and loving wife to James Driggers for 27 years. She was a devoted and loving mother to her children. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren adored their mamaw, and granny. There will never be another person like her.
She is preceded in death by her father Art Davis, mother Ester Tatum, brother Charles Davis, and half-brother Lane Davis.
She is survived by her husband James Driggers, sisters Dorothy Tatum and Billie (Joe) Malonee, half-brother Paul Davis, and half-sisters Linda Cole, Diane Lewis, and Tina Anders, loving mother of children Rick (Susan) Clayton, Scott Clayton, and Sheila Kelley mamaw to grandchildren Ashley (Jon) Lynch, Brittany (Travis) Peters, Corey (Sam) Kelley, Courtland Clayton, Emily and Matthew Clayton, granny to great grandchildren Eli, Zoey, Grayson, Dalani, Evan, Hudson, Easton, and Colton, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Wednesday August 12 from 6-8pm at Mynatt Fountain City Chapel with service to follow. Family and friends will meet at Mynatt for a procession to Lynnhurst with graveside service at 11 am. on Thursday August 13th. Pallbearers will be Corey Kelley, Matthew Clayton, Travis Peters, Jon Lynch, Justin Lowery, and Scotty Biggs.
A special thank you to Tennessee Cancer Specialists and Amedisys Hospice for their extraordinary care.
Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
