Beloved mother and grandmother, Willodean Ridenour Hughes passed away and entered Heaven on June 16, 2022 in Smyrna, TN.
Willodean was born on July 4, 1931 in Clinton, TN to Calvin and Vera Ridenour. She grew up in Norris, TN where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Paul. She had 5 children and enjoyed traveling the world with her family as a proud military wife. She spent her time as a homemaker and was a wonderful cook, known for her Christmas ham and deviled eggs. She loved sports and cheered for her children and grandchildren at their many ball games. She was a passionate UT Volunteers fan and everyone who knew her knew how much she loved cheering them on, no matter the sport. Family was the most important thing to her, and there was nothing that gave her more joy than spending time laughing with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Later in her life, she was the receptionist at Genesco in Nashville, TN and everyone that she greeted left as a friend. She welcomed everyone she met with open arms and made sure everyone felt loved, as she never met a stranger. She touched so many lives with her contagious laugh and could find humor in anything. She was the rock of her family and was a great example on how to live and love fully. Willodean is preceded in death by her parents Calvin and Vera Ridenour, husband Paul Edward Hughes, sister Willette Carol Shephard, and infant son Timothy Scott Hughes.
Willodean is survived by her sons Steve (Donna) Hughes of Murfreesboro, Tn., Tony Hughes of Murfreesboro, Tn., Mark (Diana) Hughes of Prince George, VA., and Marty Hughes of Chattanooga, TN., daughter Vicki Guye of Nashville, TN., seventeen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
