William "Rex" Laymon, age 22, of Corryton, passed away unexpectedly in the morning hours of August 23, 2015. Rex was born December 7, 1992 in Knoxville to Joni Pursiful Laymon and Dannie Laymon. He spent all of his short life in East Tennessee, and as much time as possible outdoors. He loved to hunt, fish, kayak and sit by a blazing fire with friends. As a child, he was humble and happy. As a young man, he was thoughtful and kind. He had a generous and grateful heart and was known for taking up for others. He found contentment in the simplest pleasures. His mischievous grin and sweet, sweet spirit was loved by so many and will be missed by many more. Rex is survived by mother Joni Pursiful Laymon, sister Maegan Carr Martin and husband Jonathan of Nashville. Grandparents, Troy and Polly Pursiful and Pat and Joseph Mills. Aunt, Teresa Blanton. Cousins, Jared Blanton, Tiffany Franklin, Marissa Blanton, Scott Laymon and Travis Laymon. Rex would have become an uncle to a baby girl due in September. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 26 from 5-8pm at Graveston Baptist Church, 8319 Clapps Chapel Rd., Corryton, where Rex was a faithful member. A service to celebrate Rex's life will follow at 8pm with Rev. Sean Watson officiating. The family ask that those attending his celebration of life bring pictures or a special memory to leave as a keepsake for his mother. Family and friends will meet at Graveston Cemetery at 11am Thursday for the graveside service. The family thanks the following young men who will serve as pallbearers: Mason Herron, Clint Jones, Christopher Legg, Chad Medley, Paul Riffey and Zach Scott. Though Rex's life was cut tragically short, his family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances have peace in knowing that Rex was a believer-his faith was strong-he has moved on to his heavenly home. www.mynattfh.com
