William Ray Houser, 79, of Knoxville, passed away suddenly April 25th. He was a current member of Asbury UMC and previously of Lincoln Park UMC. One of his favorite activities was singing in the church choir. Ray retired from KUB, after 46 years, where he was referred to as “Father Time” by many of his colleagues. He also retired from the Navy reserves. He was an enthusiastic gardener and an avid outdoorsman.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Alice Houser and an infant sister. Ray is survived by his wife, Freda Houser; daughter, Karen Houser; son, Wally Houser (Mary Jo Houser); daughter, Lisa Houser McNabb (Pat McNabb); grandchildren, Alex Ridenour Neislar and Beau Houser; brothers, Max Houser and Wayne Houser; brother-in-law Robert Bean (Sharon Bean).
Receiving of friends will be held at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel Saturday, 5 – 7 p.m., with a memorial service at 7 p.m. Family and friends will meet Tuesday 11:15am East Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery, 2200 East Gov. John Sevier Hwy, for 11:00am interment.
