William Charles McBride, Jr. was born on December 11, 1982, to Johnnie Ruth McBride & William Charles McBride, Sr., in Columbus, Mississippi. He grew up in the church, serving God, at Stephen Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, and gave his life to God at a very young age. William was very active growing up. He earned a Brown Belt in Taekwondo and competed in Martial Arts competitions all over the Southeast Region. He also loved music and enjoyed playing the drums as a member of his high school band. William joined the Army National Guard during his senior year, before graduating from Columbus High School in 2001. After high school, he attended community college. While there, his National Guard Unit was called to serve in the Iraq War in Operation Iraqi Freedom. William served our country in the National Guard for twelve years earning several awards and medals including the Army Achievement Medal for his dedication and devotion to duty.

William met the love of his life, Elisha Inez, on July 4, 2014, and they were married February 15, 2017. William attended the University of Tennessee and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. He had a kind and gentle spirit and was loved by everyone who met him. William departed this life on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Elisha Inez McBride and stepdaughter, Charish Reinee Johansen (Knoxville, TN); mother, Johnnie R. McBride (Columbus, MS); father, William C. McBride, Sr. (Columbus, MS); mother-in-law, Debbie Johnson (Knoxville, TN); father-in-law, Floyd King (Knoxville, TN); sister, Denise Bush & brother-in-law, Averie Bush, Sr. (Gulfport, MS); nieces, Melanie Bush & Morgan Bush; nephew, Averie Bush, Jr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.


Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 29, 2024 at 9:00am at Mynatt Funeral Home-Powell Chapel with Rev. Charlie Reynolds officiating followed by a procession to East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery for a 12:30pm interment service with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home-Powell Chapel.
