William F. Sharp (Bill), 86, of Knoxville passed away Friday, April 8, 2016. He was a faithful, long-time member of Bookwalter United Methodist Church where he was a founding member of the Thursday Men’s Group. He was also a member of the Bookwalter Keenagers with whom he traveled the world. Bill enjoyed a long retirement from South Central Bell and served in the Navy during the Korean conflict. He was a die-hard UT sports fan with a contagious laugh and a heart of gold. Bill was cherished by all who knew him and has left behind a legacy of love. He was preceded in death by wife Lennie, parents Hazel and Manus Sharp; and sister Norma Kalter. He is survived by daughters Lisa Sharp and Lori Long; son-in-law Tim Long; grandchildren Jana Bunch, Chad Bridges, Megan Waugh and Emily Long; great-grandchildren Ashlyn Osborn, Julian Bunch and Owen Bridges; sister Peggy Cooper; and many beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Bookwalter United Methodist Church or the Bookwalter Thursday Men’s Group. Family and friends will meet 12:45PM Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery for 1pm interment service. Family will receive friends 5-7PM Monday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with funeral service to follow, Rev. Steve Doyal officiating.
