William Ernest “Billy” Peak, age 61, passed away March 19, 2015. He was of the Baptist Faith. He served as a member of the Sherriff’s Department, worked at Sumter Brothers Battery and was later owner of South East Battery. He loved his dog, Trigger, NASCAR, fishing, camping, building birdhouses, and all of nature. Billy was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. He was a very generous man who helped anyone who needed it. Billy was preceded in death by wife Nancy Peak, father Ernest E. Peak, brother David Peak, and uncle Orville Lee “Cob” Peak. Survivors include mother Mildred Peak, daughter Becky Helal and fiancé Johnny Griffin, sister Carol Hammack and husband Mike, brother Danny Peak, special grandchildren Serena and Dontae Hammond, Belle Hammond, and Brandon Woods, aunt Mary Brady, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Jeff and Kathy O’Mary, Marlene and Buddy Williams, nieces Kristina Nassar and husband Tefa, Wendy Hammond, Jessica Myers, and Sherry Williams, nephews David Myers and girlfriend Ashley and Jason Myers, cousins Chuck and Martha Hammond, Godson Gabe Lay, special friends Bernadette Hammond and husband Steve, Ronnie Berry, Tina Hammond, Yossry Helal, Linda Myers, and Larry Cox, as well as the rest of the Hammond and Peak Families. Funeral service will be 3 PM Monday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with Brother David O’Mary officiating. Family and friends will proceed to Greenwood Cemetery for interment following the service. The family will receive friends 1-3 PM Monday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City.
