William Clarence Bennett, age 90, was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on November 13, 1927. He departed on September 25, 2018 while residing in Maryville, Tennessee. Bill was a United Methodist Minister for 52 years with six appointments in Holsten Conference. He retired in 2013 but continued to serve as a part-time minister. He graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1960 with a degree in religious education. In 1961 he graduated with a degree in church music. Bill was an ordained deacon in United Methodist Church. On June 2, 1968 he retired from Knoxville Utility Board and from Bungalow United Methodist Church on June 30, 2018. The other churches he served include: Hopewell United Methodist, Strawberry Plains United Methodist, Cosby United Methodist, Sevierville Circuit, and Walnut Grove Methodist Church. He was a member of Charles H. McKinney Masonic Lodge #433. He is preceded in death by mother Lennie Gamble Bennett, father Ray Clarence Bennett, and brothers Ray and Robert Bennett. He is survived by wife of 53 years Joyce Mayes Bennett, brothers; A.T. Bennett (wife Virginia) of Nashville, Tennessee and Carl Bennett (wife Bobby) of Jonesborough, Tennessee, sister Margaret Horner of Georgia, sons; Mark Bennett of Maryville, Tennessee and Daniel R. Bennett (wife Amy) of Suwanee, Georgia, daughter LeAnn Bennett of Brentwood, Tennessee, and grandchildren Shelby and Kylie Bennett of Suwanee, Georgia. Family will receive friends at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2018 with a service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Family and friends will then process to Lynnhurst Cemetery for an interment.
