Seeing Jesus face to face and her loved ones who have gone before, Wanda Faye (Leamon) Smith was healed of her ailments on November 12, 2015, when she entered heaven’s gates. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Alta Leamon, who raised her in the Burlington community where she attended East High School. After graduation, she entered the job market and was always a hard worker. She was married to the late John Franklin Smith, and their marriage produced three children, whose needs were always placed above hers. They are daughter, Janet (Trey) McBryar of Knoxville, TN, son, Larry Smith of Knoxville, TN, and daughter, Karen Smith and partner Teresa Johnson of Murfreesboro, TN; two grandsons, Ty and Clint McBryar, who brought her unsurpassed joy; her sister and friend, Carolyn (Rodney) Nelson of Robbinsville, NC; and brother Gene (Glenna) Leamon of Knoxville, TN. She was an avid UT fan, coaching every football game from her rocker, loved the mountains and ocean breeze, loved hearing the good old Southern gospel music or letting her fingers play the piano keys. We thank Dr. James Burns who kept her going while she was here. Now her desire to be pain free has been made possible by the greatest physician of all, her Lord and Savior. As the late Jerry Clower said, “Ain’t God good!” The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 pm Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow, Pastor Jeff Lane officiating. There will be a private interment.
