Walter Burnette Turner age 69, of Knoxville, passed into God’s presence with family and friends on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at UT Medical Center. He had a great love for all and instilled in humor, friendliness a Christian value of trust and always giving freely without expectation. Rich in respect and truth, taught the value of life. Accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and member of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church a a member of the Masters Lodge #244 F and AM. Went to work for Uncle Lynn at Gulf Station washing cars and his dad at Union 76 Woodland and Central. He helped care for his dad before his death and helped with his mom. He carried the Knoxville News Sentinel in Oakwood. He had a great love for old cars and loved working at Clinton Hwy Wrecker Service.
Preceded in death by father Clarence Turner, brother Todd Turner, uncles Ray Lawson Lynn and Eddie Turner. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Judy, mother, Burma Lawson Turner, brother Clarence (Terri) Turner Jr., Special Aunts Sherry Lawson, Barbara Sparks, Alice Chambley, Pat Lawson, Yana Goe, Melissa Turner, and Robin Lawson. Unlces, Gene and Ricky Lawson, Special friends Cliff and Debbie Lowe.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 PM with Rev. Rick Carnes and Rev. Willie Turner officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Bookwalter Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Oakwood Baptist Church at 111 E. Colombia Ave., Knoxville, TN 37917. Online condolences may be expressed at mynattfh.com
