Wallace “Wally” Dye, age 78 of Knoxville, died peacefully Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at his home. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church and retired from CSX Transportation Company. Wally enjoyed his time with family, friends, riding horses and an avid Golfer. Wally played football for the Powell Panthers class of 1964 and played semiprofessional football for the Knoxville Bears. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Lyles and Eleanor Dye. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Brenda Dye; children, Dwayne Dye, Kris Dye and Stacey and Dennis Greene; grandchildren, Mikayla Dye, Morgan Dye and Troy and Ryan Greene. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of U.T. Hospice for their care during Wally’s last days. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, November 7, 2022 at Sharon Baptist Church with funeral service to follow. Reverend Mark McCoig officiating. Family and friends will meet 11:00 AM Tuesday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for a graveside service.
