Walden "Wally" Crandell age 85 of Karns, formerly of Morristown, TN went to be with his Lord Saturday, February 10, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. Wally was born to the late Alice and Terence Crandell in Parke County, Indiana. He was a member of Cedar Bluff Baptist Church and he loved his church where he participated in the Adult Sunday School Class and sang in the choir. He retired from T.V.A. after 28 years of service. Prior to T.V.A., Wally taught at UT Martin. He was a proud veteran of the U.S.Navy serving at the Bay of Pigs Missle Crisis in Cuba on the USS North Hampton. He loved treasure hunting with his metal detector and Civil War buff.
Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gary, Dwight and Jonathan Crandell.
Survivors; loving wife of 48 years, Faye (Sharp) Crandell; sons, David Thomas, Daniel (Lasama) Crandell and Stephen (Sarah) Crandell; grandchildren, Allison, Michael Dylan, Ethan, Matthew, Elijah, Dylan, Bella, Samuel and Eleanor; great-grandchildren, Ayden, Alayna, Raiden, GraceLynn, Lucian, Amelia and Rosetta. Sister; Sara (Denny) Morgan; brother, Cyrus Crandell; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel followed by a 4:00 p.m. Celebration of Life Service, Rev. Joshua Sharp, Rev. Rusty Sharp and Rev. Brandon McCormack officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Highway for a 2:00 p.m. committal service with full military honors presented by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard.
