Wade Robert 'Bob' Whiteside, 77, of Abbeville, husband of Yvonne Funderburk Nickles, died Thursday, July 20, 2023, at his home.  He was born in Asheville, NC to Elizabeth Young Whiteside and the late Wade Burke Whiteside.

Throughout his life, Bob accomplished many things and touched the lives of those around him.  After graduating from the University of Tennessee, Bob had a successful career that spanned several decades. He was employed as the owner/operator of Badcock Furniture, retiring after 20 years of dedicated service. Prior to that, Bob held the position of national sales manager for multiple companies and had the opportunity to work with JC Penny.

Bob, along with his wife, Yvonne, had a passion for golf and could often be found honing their skills on the green. He also had an unwavering loyalty to the University of Tennessee Volunteers. As an enthusiastic fan, he cheered on their teams with enthusiasm and pride. 

Bob was a member of the Greenwood Country Club, Plantation Course at Edisto, Abbeville Rotary Club and Main Street United Methodist Church. 

He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Yvonne, of the home; his mother, Elizabeth of Due West, SC; children, John Wade Whiteside (Elizabeth) of Greenwood, SC, Wendy Whiteside of Oakland, CA, Heather Nickles and Nook Nickles (Amanda) all of Abbeville, SC; six grandchildren, Catherine Elizabeth Whiteside, Wade Lance Whiteside, Alexander Mayer, Briennan Mayer, Ron Price (Adele) and Lohen Nickles; and a great-granddaughter, Collins Price.

The family will receive friends 4:00PM - 5:00PM, Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel.  Funeral services will begin on Sunday at 5:30PM in Main Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Brandon Fulmer officiating.  Graveside Services will be held 11:00AM, Tuesday, July 25, 2023, in the Lynnhurst Cemetery, 2300 Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN.

Memorial contributions, in memory of Bob, may be sent to Main Street United Methodist Church, Capital Improvement Fund, PO Box 656, Abbeville, SC 29620.
