Roberts, Virginia B. (Ginny), age 85 of Luttrell, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2023. Ginny was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family. Especially, her new great grand baby and two grandchildren. She joined the Air Force in 1957 after graduating from high school in Cerro Gordo, Illinois. Ginny served 11 years as a surgical technician. She served at Patrick Air Force Base and Cape Kennedy Air Force Station during the early years of the space program. Ginny and her husband John Roberts owned Scruggs BBQ and served the East Knoxville community for many years. She is preceded in death by her father and mother Lacey and Mardell Sample; Sister, Carlene Gollard; Brothers, Ted Sample, Edward Sample, and Freddie Sample; brother in laws Leo Marsh, Ed Cook Survived by husband, John L. Roberts of 61 years; daughter Janet Roberts-Morgan and husband Mark Morgan; grandchildren Lucas Morgan and fiancé Jesse Chait, Elizabeth Wheeler and husband Matthew Wheeler; great granddaughter Ada-Rose Wheeler; sisters Vada and husband Jim Montaque, Elma Connor; brother in law Dr. Jim Roberts and wife Barbara Roberts, sister in laws Mary Cook, Kay Marsh, Jane Hamlin and husband Gene Hamlin; honorary “son” Troy Branson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would also like to give a special thanks to caregiver Amanda Carter, Avalon Hospice nurses Celeste Stratton and Sonja Taylor, and the rest of our Hospice team; devoted home helper Carolyn Criswell. The family will receive friends on Friday March 24, 2023, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with a Celebration of Life to follow at 7:00pm. Family and friends will meet at 12:30pm Saturday March 25, 2023 at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel to go in procession to Greenwood Cemetery for a 1:00pm graveside service.
