Virgil E. (Ed) Coppinger, a servant of the Lord, went to be with his Heavenly Father at the age of 68, on Monday, February 4, 2013, at 1:10 pm. Ed was a member of New Beverly Baptist Church where he was a trustee, maintained church vehicles, and started the senior ministry for which he left his legacy as a true “Timeless Treasure”. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from TVA after 34 years of service as a civil engineer. He also worked for Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency as Assistant Director of the Engineering Division where he retired in 2010 after 12 ½ years of service. After his retirement, Ed volunteered at Tennova Residential Hospice in Halls Crossroads, TN. Preceded in death by parents, Charles and Louise Coppinger. He was a loving, devoted husband to wife Sharon. Children include daughter, Debra Langston, of Knoxville; sons, Charles (Karla) of McDonough, GA and Michael (Stephanie) of Knoxville; grandchildren include Tara (Craig) Miller, Austin, Everett, Ethan, Bronwyn and Camille Coppinger. Other relatives include sister Charline (Glenn) Dowell of Chattanooga; brother-in-law Harold E. (Kathy) Hall, Jr. of Daytona Beach, FL; several nieces, nephews, and close friend Paul Pyle. Family will receive friends 5:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at New Beverly Baptist Church. Service to follow at 8:00 pm with Rev. Charles Whitson and Rev. Eddie Sawyer officiating. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be sent to New Beverly Baptist Church, 3320 New Beverly Baptist Church Rd., Knoxville, TN 37918.
