Vernon Pat Baker aka “Senator Baker” age 86 of Powell, Tn went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. He had a long-time career in pest control and was proud of all his accomplishments and awards he received. He was a very social person, a jokester at heart. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and watching UT football. Former board member of Keep Knoxville Beautiful.
Preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Thelma Baker; wife of 40+ years, Betty Baker; and brother, Rev. Ted Baker.
Vernon is survived by his sons, Doug Baker, and Jeff (Donna) Baker; daughter, Lisa Baker; stepsons, Jerry (Patty) Chambers, Jay (Tammy) Chambers, as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 12:00-2:00PM with a 2:00PM funeral service at Mynatt Funeral Home Founatin City Chapel, officiated by Chaplin Butch Baker and Pastor Chuck Daniels. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital in memory of Vernon.
