Verna Jean Covington

Verna Jean Poe Covington, age 90, of Knoxville passed away April 9, 2013 at home. She was a member of Third Creek Baptist Church and was an outstanding Christian woman. She was preceded in death by husband, Clair Jacob Covington. Survivors include children Clair Rebecca Parkinson, Robert Leland Covington, Verna Jakwanna Miller, Susan Isabelle Collette, Karren (Steven) Welborn, and Melissa June (Douglas) Howard, 20 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 22 great great-grandchildren, brother Carl Leland Poe, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 8 PM Thursday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with Rev. Rodney Duncan officiating. Family and friends will meet 8:45 AM Friday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City to proceed to Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery Lyons View Pike for interment at 9:30 AM. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City.
