Verna Covington Miller

Verna Jakwanna Covington Miller, age 71, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 15th, 2016. She was a United States Army Veteran, member of Callahan Road Baptist Church, and founder of Home Base Empowerment. She loved the Lord, spending time with her family and friends, traveling, motorcycles, and singing. She was preceded in death by husband, Walter Miller, and parents, Clair and Verna Poe Covington. She is survived by children, Jeff (Tammy) Lawrence and Carla (Carlos) Molina, grandchildren, Matthew, Cindy and Becky, siblings, Becky, Robert, Karen, Missy and Susan, numerous extended family and dear friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Home Base Empowerment, 2815 Rennoc Road, Suite C, Knoxville, TN 37918. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 21st, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Callahan Road Baptist Church, with funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Pastor Marc Sassor and Pastor Carlos Flores will be officiating. Family and friends will meet at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel on Thursday, December 22nd, 2016 to travel in procession to East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, Lyon’s View Pike, for a 10:30 a.m. committal service.
