Verlin Lee Bailey

Verlin Lee Bailey, age 84, of Corryton, passed away at his home Monday, July 4, 2016. Mr. Bailey was born June 24, 1932 to John Bailey and Minnie Wilder Bailey. He was a member and former deacon of Fairview Baptist Church and also a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the 388th Smoke Generator Company during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Owsley Bailey; his children, Michael Bailey of Corryton, Karen Bailey Watkins (Jeff) of Mocksville, NC, Mark Bailey (Robin) of Madison, AL, Kevin Bailey (Angela) of Knoxville, and Eric Bailey (Sharon) of Safety Harbor, FL; grandchildren, Erin Bailey, Christopher Watkins (Emily), Justin Watkins, Rachel Watkins Cain (Matthew), Sabrina Bailey, and Devyn Bailey; great-grandchildren, Ella and Haley Watkins; and siblings Luther “Doc” Bailey (Cleo), Ann Curl, and Dorothy Shelton. Family and friends will meet at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel 1:15 pm Thursday to proceed to Little Flat Creek Cemetery for graveside services at 2 pm with Rev. Wayne Davis officiating.
