Vaunee Fortner Thomas

Vaunee Fortner Thomas, born November 6, 1927, age 89, went to be with the Lord May 2, 2017. She was a beloved mother and grandmother “Nanny.” She was a member of Faithway Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, J.E. and Kate Violette; husband, Rev. Lewis Fortner, WWII Veteran; daughter, Kathy Lewis. Survived by sons: Steve (Sandi) Fortner and Keith Fortner; daughter Gayle (Tim) Payne; loving and very caring grandchildren: Nick Fortner, Meghan Fortner, Paul Lewis, Paige (Michael) Asbury, CiAnne Fortner, Marina Fortner, and Amy (Jeff) Williams; great grandchildren: Tori, Ethan, and Keeli Williams, Jackson Fortner, and Alex and Zalin Asbury. Special thanks to Kathy Hamilton for her loving care and support. In addition, a special thanks to Regina Collins, Beth, and Duane with UT Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. Family and friends will meet at Greenwood Cemetery by 10:45am for an 11am graveside service on Saturday, Rev. Gordon Dykes officiating.
