Vana Mae Overton, , age 95, of Powell passed away into the loving arms of Jesus Christ on January 2, 2015 at Tennova Hospice with family by her side. She was a member of The Church at Sterchi Hills, and a very loving and Christian wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother, but had suffered with dementia for several years. Preceded in death by parents John David and Rosalee Allen; husband Arthur Glen Overton; Sister, Eleanor Overton; Brothers, Vaughan and Frank Allen and son-in-law Kenneth Smith. Survived by daughter Janice Smith; “special daughter” Carolyn Cummings and husband Bobby; son Donald G. Overton and wife Kay Overton; granddaughter Brooke and Brandon Hasting; great-grandson Jayden Hasting; brother J.D. Allen and wife Alma; step grandchildren Joy and Nathan Fowler, Paul and Sarah Smith; step great-grandchildren Zoe and Aiden Fowler; many nieces and nephews. Family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Autumn Care Assisted Living and Tennova Hospice for the loving care given to our mother and family. Family will receive friends 6-8pm Monday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with service to follow at 8pm, with Rev. Randy Singleton officiating. Family and friends will meet at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel at 1pm Tuesday and proceed to Woodhaven Cemetery for 2pm interment. Family will serve as pallbearers: Brandon Hasting, Jayden Hasting, Bob Cummings, Robby Cummings, Mike Overton, David Courtney, Charlie Hicks, David Hicks Adam Watson, and Paul Smith. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
