Trent Talmadge Davis, age 77 of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Gulfport Florida, died surrounded by his loving family on June 19, 2020. Trent was born in Memphis, Tennessee on March 28, 1943, the only child of Clarence and Juanita Davis. He also resided in Hattiesburg, MS until the age of 15 before moving to St. Petersburg, Florida.
Trent graduated from Northeast High School in 1961 and joined the Signal Corp in 1962; he ended up stationed in Paris, France for 3 years and was honorably discharged and returned to St. Pete in 1967. Shortly thereafter, he started working for the St. Pete Times in the Ad Production Department from 1967-2004. In 1971, after being introduced by friends, he met the love of his life, Barbara Jane Cox. They were married on August 24, 1974, and a year later, welcomed their only child, a daughter named Christina Leigh.
Trent enjoyed motorcycling, traveling, bicycling and gardening for many years until he was diagnosed with end stage renal failure and required dialysis three times a week. He and Barbara moved to Knoxville in 2014 to be closer to extended family and a change of scenery. In 2019, he was diagnosed with moderate alzheimer’s disease which quickly progressed stifling his quick wit and infectious humor. Trent stopped dialysis after 8 years on June 10th and rapidly declined in health.
Trent was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his loving wife, Barbara, his daughter Christina, his beloved son-in-law Tony and the apple of his eye, his only grandchild Laurel. He also leaves behind his fur babies Zena and Paris.
He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law Annette and Bobby Taylor and Lester and Brenda Cox. He also enjoyed visits with his nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend thanks to the caring and professional staff at U.T. Hospice and Fresenius Dialysis of Powell.
