Tracy Ray Gunter

Tracy Ray Gunter, age 71 of Knoxville, passed away on December 28, 2018 after a two year battle with lung cancer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Tracy was a retired long haul truck driver. He is preceded in death by mother, Della Shoemaker Bates; father, Eugene Gunter; grandson, Tyler Irwin; brothers, Timothy Russell and Mickey Gunter; and son-in-law, Barney Irwin. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife, Nancy Branson Gunter; daughter, Katherine Whitehead (Scott); son, David Gunter (Chassidy); grandsons, Brandon Irwin, Jacob Gunter and Jayden Housewright; granddaughter, Laura Whitehead; sisters, Tammy Atkins, Fronie Osborne, Kay Walser and Reba Inman; brothers, Donald Gunter and William Gunter; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Tracy’s name to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38148-0142. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 3rd from 5:00-7:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. Family and friends will gather at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel on Friday, January 4th at 9:00am and then proceed to East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery for interment, Rev.
