Rector, Thelma Ernestine (Parker) – age 86, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on March 12, 2014. She was born in Brevard, NC and was a well known Designer/Taylor of majorette and cheerleader costumes as well as bridal gowns and wedding attire for all over East Tennessee. She designed and made many of the costumes for the University of Tennessee Cheerleaders and Majorettes for several years and also for numerous other Colleges, Universities, High Schools and cheerleader/majorette groups. She also was a well respected Historian for old time country and bluegrass music. She strived to “keep and maintain” the real roots of the music alive through her writings, pictures, stories and presentations throughout her lifetime. She was preceded in death by her husband for life William E. (Red) Rector, Sr. Also preceded by parents R. E. and Eura Parker; brothers Edwin Parker, Elwin Parker, Pat Parker; and sister Emmaline Gillespie. She is survived by sons Ron and Chris Rector, Bill Rector, Jim and Vicki Rector; daughter Anita Rector; grandchildren Sheri Turner, Chad Rector, Alison and Brandon Stooksbury, Jana Rector and Graham Rector; great grandchildren Autumn Turner and Alethia Stooksbury. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 pm Saturday, March 15, 2014 with services to follow at 7:00 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with Dr. Jerry Russell officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:45 pm, Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Greenwood Cemetery for 2:00 pm interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to WDVX Radio Station, P.O.
