Thelma Burchett Bolton Massengill

Thelma Burchett Bolton Massengill, born November 29, 1923, went to meet her Savior on September 25, 2017, at the age of 93. She was saved at a young age and was a member of Beaverdale Baptist Church in Halls. Thelma retired from Mt. Valley Head Start after many years of dedicated service. Thelma and her late husband traveled extensively and were proud to say they visited all fifty states and several Canadian providences. She loved to quilt and especially loved making homemade quilts for her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was the light of her life and she will be greatly missed by all. She is preceded in death by her husbands, James Earl Bolton, who passed away in 1964, and James Cecil Massengill, who passed away in 2004. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Sherman & Julie Burchett; sisters, Edna Boldt, Dorothy Henegar, and Margaret Jean Burchett; and her brother, Roy Burchett. She is survived by her sons, Doug Bolton (Mary Ann), and Tom Bolton (Wilma); daughters, Barbara Bolton Budlong (Lin), and Patricia Warren (Walt); stepsons Jim (Carol) and Terry (Ann) Massengill; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mable Giambruno, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00pm, Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, with service to follow at 7pm. Family and friends will meet at 1:45pm, Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Greer’s Chapel Cemetery in Harrogate for graveside service at 2:00pm.
