Terry Disney, aged 55 of Lake City, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday morning, June 29th after a brave battle with cancer. Terry earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the University of Tennessee, a master of science degree in economics from Iowa State University, and a PhD in economics from Auburn University. Terry worked for the USDA maintaining food safety standards for more than 25 years in the Economic Research Service, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, and the Food Safety Inspection Service. Terry was also dedicated to the Loft at Holly Lane, where he raised prize-winning Plymouth Rock and Orpington poultry, and for which he won the American Poultry Association’s Master Exhibitor award in 2015. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling to see the country’s beauty with his wife, Grova. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Disney and his sister Lori Disney. He is survived by his wife, Grova Adkins Disney; father Bill Disney of Clinton; sister Wendy; aunts Louise and husband Virgil Phillips of Jacksboro, Edna Wallace of Andersonville, Barbara and husband Ivan Mozingo of Lake City, Pat and husband Fred Long of Lake City, Mona Pratt of Florida, and Irene Pratt of Clinton; brother-in-law Dan, wife Sharon, and children Luke and Kate Adkins of Clinton; aunt Toni Canterbury of South Williamson KY; Paula, Don and Amanda Gillman of Rock Hill, SC; Jim and Janet Gerard of Portsmouth, OH; numerous cousins on the Pratt and Disney sides; and numerous friends in Fort Collins, CO and throughout the East Tennessee poultry community. Special thanks to Doctors Hesamm Gharavi and Peter Ochoa and the Staff at Tennova North Medical Center. The family will receive friends at Main Street Baptist Church in Lake City, Thursday July 2nd from 2 to 4 PM. A memorial service will follow at 4 PM with Wayne Phillips, Don Fox, Jim Justice, and Wallace Justice officiating.
