Steven Anthony Thurman

Steven Anthony Thurman age 28 of Powell, Tn went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 24, 2020. Steven was humble and athletic, making not only physical activities look easy, but also a prime example of how a kind and unbiased human should act and he did it with ease. He wasn't the same as everybody else and he saw things in a different light. He was very funny even as a little boy always trying to make everybody laugh. He would try to help you any way he could. Steven was a son, father, grandson, nephew, beloved uncle of young ones, a wise old man, special cousin, poet, composer, athlete, and a beautiful soul. Throughout his life, he was the type of person whom you felt you knew for years after a single conversation. He truly invested his energy in those around him by making them feel safe, understood and loved. He always read in between the lines, understanding there was more to life than the black and white. Steven devoted his time to composing music and competing in disc golf. Steven comprehensively transformed disc golf from a sport, to a dance, then to a hole in one. He had the #1 disc golf rating from early 2016 - mid 2017 in Tennessee. He is the only golfer to get a hole in one at hole #12 at Victor Ashe Park throwing from the long throw position. Steven was a member of Tekoa Baptist Church. He always left things better than how he found them. He will be missed. He was preceded in death by his father, David Thurman, his grandmother, Betty Thurman, and his Grandfather, Jerry King. He is survived by his Mother Carla Thurman, Brothers Alan Thurman and Michael Thurman, and Sister Laura Thurman, Sister-in-law Brittany Thurman, Grandmother Charlotte King, Grandfather Richard Thurman, and Kinsley, special cousins, and many friends who loved him dearly.
