Steven Michael McCarty, age 70, met his Savior face to face on November 13, 2024 after more than 13 years battling the toll cancer took on his body. Steve held many roles in his life from Business Owner to Deacon, but none more cherished than Husband, Father, and Papaw. He was the fiercest protector and provider to his family. Through his illness, he made it known his purpose was to glorify his Heavenly Father. He did just that until his very last breath.
Steve will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Kay; daughters Christi Jones (Kenny), Michelle Stutz (Shawn), Lori Holt (Jeremy); his grandchildren; Roxanne Smith, Kaitlyn Shoemaker (Josh), Kaley Creasy (Zack), Elijah Stutz (Gabrielle), Maci Jones (Julius), Tate Holt, Gabe Jones, Zack Holt, Iley Holt, Gabby Stutz, and Anna Stutz; and his 4 great grandchildren; Faryn, Sawyer Jean, Kyson, and Stevie Ann; his father John McCarty and brothers, Ron McCarty (Angie), Tim McCarty (Lori), and Phil McCarty (Beverly), Uncle Tom Branson (Jenny) who was like a brother, mother-in-law Sandy Monday, and several nieces and nephews.
Steve was joyfully reunited with his mother, Lee Etta Branson McCarty; father-in-law, Charles Monday, great grandson Liam James Shoemaker, and several dear friends.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 16th from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Riverstone Church (formally Northstar South), 1204 E. Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920; with a Celebration of Life immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Make a Wish of East Tennessee.
Special thanks to the team at Caris Hospice; especially his nurse Jennifer, Shaun Olsen, and the outpouring of love and support from family and friends during the course of his illness.
