In Loving Memory of Steve Abbott, Sr.
January 20, 1950 – February 21, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and sincere gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Steven W. Abbott, Sr. Steve was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Steve was blessed with 57 years of marriage to the love of his life, Shelia Abbott. Their unwavering love and partnership were the foundation of his life. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was the proud father of two sons, Steve Jr. (Kim) and Patrick (Heather), who were the light of his life. His joy was multiplied with the arrival of his grandchildren, Emalee Grace and Tytan Ryan, whom he adored beyond measure. He held a special place in his heart for his niece, Dawn Heather (Shane) and his lifelong friends, Jerry & Mary Lynn Holloway, and Jewell & Steve Anderson.
Steve is reunited with his beloved mother, Ruby, and his siblings, Patricia Doane-Fassett, Charlotte Duggan, Peggy Jean Abbott, Candace Moore, and Richard Abbott. He leaves behind several nephews, countless friends, and colleagues who were touched by his kindness, generosity, and humor. Steve was an avid outdoorsman and all-around good man. He had a wonderful 45 year+ career in the steel industry, through which he made many great friends and acquaintances. He lived and loved life to the fullest and imparted these traits to everyone he met. He chose to be the dash on the tombstone and let his life be remembered by his accomplishments, experiences, relationships, and impact he had on people over his lifetime. Though he is no longer by our side, his love, wisdom, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Many thanks to the Doctors, Physicians, and UT Hospice Care Team who cared for him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your local food bank.
