Stephen Burl Heater, age 61, of Knoxville, passed away January 17, 2019.
Mr. Heater was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the John Sevier Gun Range where he was also a Safety Officer; he was a patron member of the NRA (National Rifle Association); and a member of the Smokey Mountain Archers. He was a veteran of the United States Navy (August 1976 – January 1982), serving on the USS John F. Kennedy. He received the NAVY “E” RIBBON twice, was awarded Meritorious Unit Commendation and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a graduate of Parkersburg South High School class of 1976. He graduated from Belleview University with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Project Management. He was employed at ORNL as a mechanical engineer.
Stephen is preceded in death by parents Burley Ivan and Dorla Rhodes Heater.
He is survived by his wife Sherry Whalen Heater; daughter Kristen Michelle Heater (Daniel Rey Tillman) of Knoxville, TN; daughter Brittany Dawn Dies (Elijah Dylan Dies) of Pittsburgh, PA; sister and brother-in-law Dina and Michael Braniff of Parkersburg, WV.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, from 5:00-8:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel in Knoxville, Tennessee. Schedule permitting, interment will be at the Cottrell Cemetery in Beech, West Virginia on Saturday, January 26th.
