Stella R. (Gaut) Stooksbury passed away at her family home in Knoxville, TN on October 5, 2021. She was born in Virginia, February 18, 1933, and retired from Sears with 26 years of service.
Also known as “Mama”, “Mamaw”, and “Mamaw Stella” and is fondly remembered by her four children, William (Butch) Gaut and wife Susan, Mike Gaut and wife Sharyn, Donna Arensbak and husband Erik, and Teresa Winarski and husband David.
Among others that she leaves behind are her dear grandchildren, Sarah Gaut, Hannah Gaut, Ian Arensbak and wife Lindsay, Lea Cole and husband Josh and four great grandchildren, Camdyn, Grant, Mila, and Dane. Several nieces and nephews, many dear friends and of course, her longtime furry companion, Benji.
Stella was a faithful member of Smithwood Baptist Church in Ftn. City and loved singing in the choir. She enjoyed the outdoors and was a master at gardening. She continued working in her yard until just a few months ago.
“To those I love and who have loved me, when I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You must not tie yourself to me with tears, be happy we had so many years. I thank you all for the love that you have shown me, and when you come this way, I will greet you with a smile and say, “Welcome Home”.
A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021.
