Sorin Stanescu, born June 5, 1982, passed away September 20, 2021 at the age of 39. He was born in Burcharest, Romania. His family relocated to California when Sorin was 7 years old, during the Civil War outbreak in Romania. At the age of 7 years old, Sorin’s family moved to where Sorin would call home, Knoxville, TN. Sorin attended Inskip Elementary, Gresham Middle, and graduated from Central High School. After graduation, Sorin decided to join the Army where he spent time in the Middle East as a Combat Medic. After returning home, he entered Walter State Community College and received his RN License. He began working at Lakeshore Hospital, Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge where he was a traveling nurse, worked for Beverly Park Place Health and Rehab, and was employed with Amedysis Hospice at the time of his death. Sorin’s compassion for others always shown through while providing quality and compassionate care. He loved sports, the outdoors and spending time with friends and family. Sorin had three loves in his life, his daughter Saylor, mother, Aurelia, and sister, Adi. He was preceded in death by his father, Viorel Stanescu; step father, Tim Hertzel. He is survived by mother, Aurelia; daughter, Saylor; sister, Adi Finsen (Daniel); special friends, Ty Nance, Susan Smith, and to many others to list. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 12:00pm until time of funeral service at 1:30pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with Rev. Chris Stanfield officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery where Sorin will be laid to rest. Pallbearers will be Ty Nance, Jarrod Cruze, Patrick Ownby, Phillip Pendergrass, Patrick Harris and Jason Burleson. Masks are required for the service.
