Simon Lafate West

Simon Lafate West (Daee), age 85, of Powell and formerly Tazewell, was born January 30, 1932 and passed away February 11, 2017. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Preceded in death by beloved parents Claude and Addy West; daughter Debbie West; sisters Nora Lee Llewellyn, Lou Setzer and Zelma West; brothers Frank, Joe Bruce, Ernest and Claude West Jr. He is survived by wife of 61 years, Gladys; daughters Nancy (Chuck) Daniels and Connie (Keith) Livingston; sister Faye (Bernard) Dalton of Bean Station; brother Bill (Georgia) West of Tazewell; grandchildren Chastity (Jason) Maples, Ashley (Brian) Baugh, Jennifer (Johnny) Vincil, Donnie (Lisa) Daniels, Abby (Doug) Cole and Brandon Livingston; Great grandchildren Buddy, Natalie and Lexi Maples, Sean and Madilynn Baugh, Hannah Vincil, Katie Mitchell, Madison and James Daniels, Izzy, Addy and Gabby Cole; several nieces and nephews; many extended family members and friends. Special thanks to Knox County Scan Department, Dr. Richard Phelps and loving nurse Tracy, Hardin Valley Baptist Church family and Foot of the Cross Baptist Church, and all the loving care from UT Hospice Group. The family will receive friends 5:30-7:30 pm, Tuesday, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow at 7:30 pm, with Pastor Claude West officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 am, Wednesday, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel and proceed to West Cemetery in Tazewell for interment at 12:30 pm. Pallbearers: Ricky West, Earl Setzer, Donnie Daniels, Brandon Livingston, Jason and Buddy Maples, Allen Monroe and Dewayne Cox.
