Shonda Michelle Mayfield

October 10, 1969 — April 30, 2023

Shonda Michele Mayfield, 53, of Knoxville, passed away unexpectedly on April 30th, 2023. Originally from Scott County, Shonda was adored by everyone she met. She was a beloved wife, a dedicated mother, and a caring teacher, but she wore many other hats, including being everyone’s cheerleader and a secondary mom to many. She was a selfless woman and wonderful Christian who always put the needs of others before herself. Shonda is preceded in death by parents Rev. Sherman Smith and Beulah Smith Posey; sisters Carolyn (Sue) Trammell and Judy Chitwood Duncan; and niece Melaina Trawally. She is survived by sister Pamela King; Brother Mitchell Smith; husband Joseph; children Joel and Alistair (and daughter-in-law Lauren Dieterich) and step-son Steven Mayfield; and granddaughter Mahlaya. The family will receive friends at Mount Olive Baptist Church on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 4:00-6:00pm followed by a funeral service officiated by Pastor and close family friend Chase Phillips. Family and friends will meet at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Rev. Sherman Smith Family Cemetery 2685 Alderville Road, Winfield, TN for the burial.
