Shirley Vineyard Nash-Pitts

September 28, 1938 — February 5, 2021

Nash-Pitts, Shirley V. of Knoxville. Shirley passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021, she is preceded in death by her loving husband James B. (Jim) Pitts, Parents; Jack and Ruth (Monday) Vineyard, Brother; Tom Vineyard, Sister-in-law; Charlotte Vineyard. Shirley was retired from WVLT-TV where she spent 16 years and will be remembered for the restaurant segment where she always ended by telling them to “Clean it Up.” She was a member of Eastminister Presbyterian Church. Shirley was very involved in the community, having served on numerous Boards, including National Association of Accounts, O’Connor Senior Center, Clarence Brown Theater, Pellissippi Community College and Town Hall East. Chairperson of the City of Knoxville Coliseum/ Auditorium/ Chilhowee Park Board. Shirley attended Central High School and U.T. Knoxville. Shirley graduated from the first class of the Knoxville Police Citizens Academy and the F.B.I. Citizens Academy. Shirley’s first love and light of her life was her “Boys”. Survivors include her Son; T. Stephen Nash, Grandsons; Justin S. and Eric S. (Katie) Nash, Great Grandsons; Eason and Griffin. A special note of thanks to Justin who tirelessly with love and patience took care of Nana around the clock for the past year. Brothers and sister-in-law; Ray and Helen Vineyard, Knoxville, Jack Vineyard, Georgia, Sister and Brother-in-Law; Judy and Jack Armstrong, Knoxville. Sister-in-law, Pat Vineyard of Georgia. Several nieces and nephews; Other family members and best friend Glenda Gideon Carringer. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Candice Redmond and Vickie Nash, for their love and care. Family and friends will meet 1:45pm Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Asbury Cemetery for a 2:00pm Graveside Service. Rev. Sean White officiating.
