Shirley Sue Surrett

Surrett, Shirley Sue Compton - Knoxville, aged 88, passed away on July 6, 2023. Sue was born in Knoxville on September 4, 1934 to parents Evelyn Louise Collins Compton and Harry Carlyle Compton, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, Randall Howard Surrett and her brother, Roger Allen Compton. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Elayne Loveday and son Timothy Allen Surrett, and by grandchildren, Joshua David White (and his children Dezlyn and Jayden) and Shawna Renee Clinkscale (Otis) and great grandsons, Damian Surrett and Howard Clinkscale. In addition, she is survived by her sister Rena Compton Tolbert of Nashville, TN and brother David Al Compton of Powell, TN. Sue attended Knoxville public schools and received her nurses's training in Knoxville. She retired several years ago from Baptist hospital where she worked as a nurse for many years. In addition to enjoying her career as a nurse, Sue loved to travel, work Suduko puzzles and crosswords. She was a long-time member of Dante Church of God and loved going to church her entire life. She will be sadly missed by a host of many friends and relatives.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Memory Care Unit on the 400 Hall at Westmoreland Health and Rehabilitation Center. Their many kindnesses to Sue were always greatly appreciated. The family would like to express our immense gratitude to Sami Hickle, Kaitlyn Abner and Bobby Heatwole for their professionalism, kindness and loving care they always provided to Sue.
