Shirley Byrd Martin

September 23, 1940 — July 10, 2017

Shirley Byrd Martin, age 76, passed away July 10, 2017. She was a member of New Pleasant Gap Missionary Baptist Church. Shirley retired from Senior Citizen Home Assistance after 20 years of service as a Field Supervisor. Preceded in death by daughter, Sharon Irwin; grandson, Derrick Claiborne; parents, Charles and Grace Byrd; sister, Brenda Byrd. Left to cherish her memory are husband, Larry Z. Martin; daughters, Tamela (Brian) Lane and Helen Roberts; grandchildren, Serena, Charles and Robert Poland, Danny Irwin, Amanda Drollman and Brandy (Edward) Woods; 12 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to New Pleasant Gap Missionary Baptist Church. The family would like to thank Avalon Hospice and especially Wendy Kirchhofer for the loving care provided. Family and friends will meet 11:15AM Tuesday at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery (JS Hwy) for 11:30AM interment service. Family will receive friends at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel 6-8PM Sunday with funeral service to follow, eulogist Sam Oaks and Rev. Leonard Goin officiating.
