Crye, Mama Shirley
Shirley Ann Slover Crye, walked into the arms of Jesus one day short of her 87th birthday on December 4, 2021. We were looking forward to celebrating her birthday, but her celebration today is better than anything we could have ever imagined. She was a longtime and faithful member of First Baptist Powell, in which she was also a member and friend to all in the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She was a proud alumni of Young High School, class of 1952. Mama Shirley enjoyed decades long membership and fellowship in Beta Sigma Phi. Her heart was filled with the most joy in her last busy years while worshiping, encouraging, and boldly serving others in the Recovery Ministry at Powell Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, John L. Crye, and her mother and father, Dorothy Abbott and Carl Slover. She is survived by her grandchildren and great-grandson, William Crye, Jonathan Crye, Corbin Coker, Tyler and Kayla Wyrick, Katie Beth and Emily Crye, Nicole (Justin) O’Donnell, Nathan (Mollie) Coker and Eric Coker, children Angie (Bub) Wyrick, Brad Crye, Jon (Whitney) Crye, and Alescia Crye, brother, Van Abbott, and his children, Ashley and Lauren, brother-in-law, Bob (Janis) Crye, special niece, Julie Crye, and so many more beloved family members and friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 11 from 12:00-2:00 at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with a service to follow, officiated by Pastor Brooke Hartman. Procession will follow to Greenwood Cemetery for a 3:00pm graveside service and interment. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Recovery at Powell Church, 323 W, Emory Rd, Powell, TN 37849.
