Sherman Widner, age 84 of Knoxville, woke up in heaven September 14, 2017. He was a member of Union Baptist Church where he took care of the HVAC system for 20 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War and an active member of IBEW 760. Sherman loved being outdoors. He was a loving husband, father, and papaw. Preceded in death by parents Bruce and Clara Widner; brother, Earl Widner; son-in-law Sammy Williams. Survived by wife of 62 years Bobbie Widner; daughters Tama (Clay) Young and Kim Shular and Ronnie Taylor; grandsons Brent (Amy) Williams, Bobby (Jacqueline) Williams, as well as, Storm Shular (Logan Rooney), Chance Shular, and their father Barry Shular; great-granddaughter Shelby Reece Williams; brothers, Ferris, Don, and David Widner; several other special nieces, nephews, and friends. A special thanks to Sandy Alexander, Robin Muncey, and Sandra Maples for their loving care during his illness. Service will be held 7:00p.m. Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, Rev. Charlie Lynch officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45a.m. Monday at Union Cemetery on Washington Pike for 11:00a.m. interment. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel.
