Scott Jones

Scott Jones, age 97 of Knoxville, passed away July 10, 2018. He was a WWII veteran. He worked at Avondale Farms for over 20 years and retired from the US Postal Service after 15 years. Scott enjoyed trading cars, swapping knives, collecting coins, and telling jokes and stories. He was the best dad and papaw and a loving husband. Preceded in death by wife of 54 years Mattie Lee Jones; 2 sisters; 3 brothers; parents Martha Wright and John Jones. Survived by wife of 17 years Margie Jones; sons, Verlon Scotty Jones and wife Daphne and Donald Sterling Jones and wife Jamie; grandchildren Steven Jones, Michelle Hylton, Melissa Roberts, Alan Jones, Monica Warwick, Jason Jones, and Holly Jones; 9 great-grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren; wonderful friend Harold Smith; several nieces and nephews. Family will meet Friday 10:45am at Highland Memorial Cemetery for an 11:00am graveside service, Deacon Tony Roberts officiating. Scott's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
