Sarah Kim Kane, age 60, of Knoxville, TN passed away on January 14, 2025. She was a beloved wife, daughter, Auntie, and truest friend. She attended Cleveland High School, graduated from Carson-Newman College with degrees in Psychology and German, and received a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She was an English professor at Lee University and a Lecturer at UTK. She was a woman of strong faith in Jesus and was uncompromising in her convictions. She had a generous heart and loved—fiercely and unconditionally—trees, good yarn, art, David Bowie, literature, the color yellow, the Atlanta Braves, and her dearly departed cats (Beatrice, Barnabas, John Hodges, Patterson, and Beauregard). Sarah had the most beautiful smile, told the best stories, and found joy in the simplest things. Most of all, though, she loved her husband Michael, with whom she crafted the best of all possible worlds.
She is preceded in death by her father, Ralph Tittsworth; her paternal grandparents, John B. and Ella Katherine (Jenkins) Tittsworth; maternal grandparents, Roscoe and Ruby (Rollins) Johnson and stepfather, Edward Townsend. She is survived by her husband of thirty-two years, Michael A. Kane; her mother Dortha Lee Townsend of Cleveland, TN; her stepbrother, Bob Townsend; her stepsister, Lynette Purdue; her three “adopted” daughters, Farron Kilburn, Hannah Matis and Merinda Simmons and her precious Lydia Cat.
The family will be receiving friends at Mynatt Funeral Home—Fountain City Chapel on January 20, 2025 from 9-11am. The funeral service will follow immediately, officiated by the Rev.
