Sarah Janice Allen

Sarah J. Allen, age 77, of Knoxville, formerly of Flint, MI, went to Heaven August 14, 2012. She was born in Jonesboro, AR June 16, 1935. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Temple Baptist Church in Powell and secretary for local U.A.W. retirees and retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. Preceded in death by husband Frederick J. Allen, father Gerald E. Hughes, nephew Dennis Morton, and brother-in-law Charles Edward Morton. Survivors include son Frederick J. Allen, Jr., daughter Mary Jo Holsinger and Husband Jon, grandchildren Stephanie Holsinger, Heather Glass and husband Rob, Bethany Allen , and Jacob Allen, great-grandchildren Stephen Holsinger, Isabella Glass, and Gideon Glass, mother Eunice Pearl Hughes, sister Geraldine Morton Heidel and husband Jim, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crown College Student Scholarship Fund 2307 West Beaver Creek Dr. Powell,TN 37849 in memory of Sarah J. Allen. Funeral service will be held 8 pm Friday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with Dr. Clarence Sexton officiating. Interment will be in Crestwood Cemetery in Grand Blanc, MI. The family will receive friends 6-8 Friday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel.
