Sarah Jane Ausmus, 81, passed away at Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee Wednesday, June 8th, 2022, surrounded by her family. Sarah was born in Hickory, NC on June 10th, 1940 as the middle child of three. Sarah graduated from Fulton High School in 1958 and studied liberal arts at the University of Tennessee. Sarah led her life with her strong faith in the Lord and her family. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Sarah successfully started and ran two businesses: Records -n- Things and JA Travel Agency. She was active in the Knoxville business community and her church, Knoxville First Church of God. She was a talented musician, accomplished at the piano, organ, and cello, and played the organ gratis for her church for a little over twenty years. One of her proudest moments as a musician was playing in Carnegie Hall as a pianist with the Tennessee All-State Orchestra. Being the owner of a travel agency, Sarah and her late husband Delno traveled all around the world, coming up just short of visiting all continents. Sarah was a loving mother of two daughters, four stepdaughters, one step son and a loving grandmother to her grandchildren.
Sarah is survived by her two daughters Rhonda Southers and son-in-law Rickie, and Minda Woods, stepdaughters Debbie Ausmus, Jodi Nolan and husband Rick, Karen Adair and husband Ed, step-son Bob Ausmus and wife Linda, granddaughters Sarah Clark and Morgan Southers, step-grandchildren, brother Howard Cook and nephew Ricky Kelly and family.
Sarah will be reunited with the lord along with her late husband Delno Ausmus, first husband and father of her children Eddie Lunsford, her mother and father Mary and Victor Cook, her sister Vickie Cook and son-in-law Randy Woods.
The family will gather to honor her life on Saturday, June 18th at Mynatt’s Funeral Home in Fountain City.

Friends and family will meet at Sherwood Cemetery on Monday, June 20, 2022, at 2:45pm for a 3:00pm graveside service.
