Samuel Eugene (Sammy) Vaughn, age 59, passed away Friday, December 6, 2024 at UT Medical Center with his wife by his side. Sammy was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and loyal friend. His life was defined by his unwavering faith, deep love for his family, and fierce loyalty to his friends and community.
Sammy dedicated himself to his family, always putting them first and providing them with a strong foundation built on love, integrity and faith. He met his wife, Betty Ann Vaughn, in 1982 and they married in 1991. His continued devotion to his wife of 33 years and their children, Cassandra “Cassie” Taylor, Keenan Charles and Seth Thomas Vaughn, was a testament to the values he held dear. No matter what the event…practice or games, school events, training or church programs, he never missed a beat. Whether it was through the joyful moments or the challenging times, he remained a pillar of support and love for those closest to him.
Sammy was a Falcon for Life! He was a passionate supporter of Fulton Football, a tradition he carried with pride throughout his life. His dedication to the team, the school, and the community was unwavering. Whether coaching hundreds of children on his little league teams, cheering from the sidelines or sharing stories of past games, he inspired countless others with his enthusiasm and spirit. He believed in the power of sport to bring people together and stayed a steadfast supporter of his team through every season.
In addition, Sammy pursued a local wrestling career under the names Sammy V and Chaos. As he became well known with his theme “Wrestling with the Devil”, he was able to use his platform as a testimony to Jesus. Again, he was a powerful force in influencing all that knew him.
Sammy was preceded in death by his parents Charles Luttrell and Betty “Rose” Vaughn, his in-laws, Tom and Emma Smither and his sister Mary “Jean”.
In addition to his wife and children, Sammy is survived by brother, Ronnie; sisters, Joann (Bob), Carole, Gaye, and Glenda Sue; sister-in-law, Becky (John); brothers-in-law, Ralph and Billy; several special nieces and nephews including great and great-greats.
