Russell Darrell Gillenwater

Russell (Pappy) Gillenwater, age 77 of Corryton, went to meet his heavenly father Monday, September 13, 2021. He was a member and deacon of Bethel Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents Milton and Mima Gillenwater, brother and sisters: Nina Catron, Myrtle Lawson, Olene Starnes, Paul Gillenwater, and Fred Gillenwater. He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Hazel Chesney Gillenwater, daughter and son-in-law Martha Ann and Tracey Paul, grandson Cole Neff and Cole’s girlfriend Cella Chastain, very special great great niece Makynli Yarbrough, sisters Dorothy (William) Kimbler, Alice Carter, brothers Carson (Buck) Gillenwater and Dale (Ann) Gillenwater, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Bethel Baptist Church in Corryton, with funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM, Tim Inklebarger and Keith Buckner officiating. Family and friends will meet at 12:15 PM Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel to proceed to Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery for a 1:00 PM interment. Pallbearers will be: Terry Bailey, Chris Kimbler, Calvin Chesney, Michael Carter, Kelvin Nease, Scott Bates, Dennis Jones, and Tony Coffey.
