Russell Burnett, born August 29, 1920. Born again April 1962, and went to be with his Heavenly Father, January 30, 2015. He was a member of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church. Taught electronics for the City of Knoxville for 30 years and retired while teaching at Central High School. Russell was an active church member serving as Sunday School Teacher, Choir Leader, and Deacon. He loved to witness for the Lord, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Russell is a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army Air Corps. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Hope Booker Burnett. He is survived by sons and wives, Mitchell and Julia, and Randy and Julie; grandchildren and spouses, Paul (Amber) Burnett, Seth (Elisha) Burnett, Leanne (Alex) Widmer, and Daniel Burnett; great-grandsons, Keaton and Lian Burnett. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the caregivers at Heritage Assisted Living for their love and special care to Russell, especially during the last few months. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to “Water For Christ” c/o Sixth Avenue Baptist Church, 1129 N. Sixth Ave. Knoxville, TN 37917. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:30-7:30 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel, with services to follow at 7:30 pm. Mitchell and Randy Burnett officiating and music by Paul and Mavis Hughes. Family and friends will meet at 1:45 pm Tuesday at Pleasant View Cemetery in Maynardville for graveside services at 2pm. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
