Rubye Bailey

Rubye Allene Brewer Bailey, 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Broadview Assisted Living, Pensacola, FL. Rubye was born in Jacks Creek, TN on January 30, 1920 to Tompsy W. and Jerri Kee Brewer. She married Robert Andy Bailey in 1942 before he left to serve in WWII in the Army Corp of Engineers. After the war they made their home in Knoxville, TN. It was there they raised their children and made lifelong friends in their church and neighborhood. She was an elementary teacher in Knox County for many years. In 2001 she moved to Pensacola, FL. Mrs. Bailey enjoyed her new home near her daughter and grandchildren. When her health began to fail she moved to Broadview Assisted Living. She was a member of Arlington Church of Christ in Knoxville and later Bellview Church of Christ, Pensacola. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tompsy William and Jerri Kee Brewer; sister, Mary Nell Rankin (Varnell); brother, Max Brewer (Ruby Nell); son-in-law, Jim Loy and loving husband of 55 years, Robert Andy Bailey. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Beth Bailey of Senatobia, MS; daughter, Nancy Loy of Pensacola, FL; her wonderful grandchildren and their spouses, Jamie Brazell (Scot), Mary Ayers (Richie), Bryan Loy (Emily), Meg Crockett (Scott) and her 8 precious great-grandchildren, Quinn, Bailey and Cameron Brazell; Kate, Bailey and Emily Ayers; Rubye Mae Loy; Gaines Crockett; brother-in law, Lance Bailey (Ann); sisters-in-law, Neva Harvey, Jane Morris and Charlotte Joyner; special cousin, Murdell Barker and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel, Knoxville, TN on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 10:30am with burial at Lynnhurst Cemetery. Scot Brazell will officiate. The family will receive friends at 10:00am prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Broadview Assisted Living and Genesis Rehab Services for their help and loving care; to Dr. Don Buckley and his staff and to Barbara Clark for her caring assistance.
