Ruby Fritts Kennedy, of Knoxville, passed away on November 9, 2015 at Fort Sanders NHC. She is survived by her son, Montgomery Jackson Kennedy, III and his wife Mary of Panama City Beach, FL; Daughter, Candy Kennedy Swift and her husband, Bob of Winston-Salem, NC; her grandchildren, whom she loved and cherished, Melody Kennedy, Hixson, TN; Dr. Julia Messer and her husband, Tim Raper of Raleigh, NC; Jeremy Messer and Sharron Owens of Winston-Salem, NC; great grandchildren, Davona Chody Howell and Jack Bennett of Hixson, TN and Davan Howell Hixson, TN, Graham and Garrett Raper of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren Isaiah and Isabella Scott of Winston-Salem, NC; and great-great grandchild Chloe Howell; her loving, precious niece, Phyllis Jean Fornshell and her husband, John Fornshell of Chuckey, TN and their families, Bryan and Nicole Fornshell, Miamisburg, OH and Todd and Kim Fornshell of Clearwater, FL. Ruby was a loving, gracious, mother, grandmother and wife. She spent many years as owner of Ruby’s Beauty Salon and throughout her life she enjoyed working and being with people. She retired from Robertshaw Controls and was on the board of the Fulton Credit Union for many years. Mom Rube loved cooking and had recipes in “Ruby’s Cooking Corner” in the Fulton News newsletter for many years. Ruby was a longtime member of the Bearden #437 Order of the Eastern Star, Cherokee Chapter. She loved to dance and enjoyed reading her Bible. Mom Rube was a huge sports lover, especially University of Tennessee football and Peyton Manning and the Atlanta Braves. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the American Cancer Society. The family of Ruby would like to extend thanks and appreciation to the wonderful staff at Fort Sanders NHC. There are too many wonderful caregivers to mention by name who provided their love, support and the best of care for the past six years. Family and friends will meet at Lynnhurst Cemetery on Saturday at 1:45pm for a 2pm Graveside Service.
