Roy Woody

Roy Woody, age 83, of Powell, TN passed away at home on July 31, 2018. He was a faithful member of Powell United Methodist Church and an active member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his parents W.F. Woody and Nettie Walker Woody; brothers, Martin, W.F., Herbert, Bruce, Herman, and sister Nell Woody Sharp. He is survived by his wife Patricia Hay Woody (Trisha); sister Helen Woody and sister-in-law Bernice Woody of Ten Mile, TN; nieces, Mary E. Brooks, Dianne Hall, and Patsy Pratt; nephews, W.M. (Bill) Woody and Gerald Woody. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather to his blended family which includes daughter Tenna Woody Brantley (sons Cameron and Pierce) of Powell, TN, son Spencer Preston Woody, wife Carol Grooms Woody (daughter Mckenna) of Snowshoe, WV, Lesia Gail Horton of Powell, TN, Carroll Hay Horton, wife Tammy Priester Horton of Leesville, SC, (son Ryan, daughter Amy Horton Coleman husband Chris and son Henry), Christopher Adams Harvey, wife Lisa Smith Harvey (daughter Loren, son Brandon) of Powell, TN. Roy was a graduate of Tennessee Tech University, a U.S. Army veteran, a 32̊ Scottish Rite Mason and member of Powell Masonic Lodge. He was manager of Blount County Farmers Co-Op, owned Gateway Hardware Store on Clinton Highway, Knoxville, TN, and sold real estate in Knox County. The family will receive friends at Powell United Methodist Church from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday August 5, followed by a memorial service with Martha Scott and Jamie Bauknight officiating. Private internment service will be held at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Ten Mile at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Powell United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Food Pantry through the Fellowship Sunday School Class or UT Hospice.
