Roy "Wayne" Cardwell

May 17, 1932 — June 23, 2014

Roy “Wayne” Cardwell of Corryton, passed away 6-23-14. He was a member of Clapps Chapel United Methodist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Marines serving during the Korean Conflict, he was a professional painting contractor, after retiring he loved raising cattle, working in the garden, was an avid U.T. sports fan, and loved his family & his cats. Preceded in death by his parents Roy & Sadie Cardwell, Brother Ralph Cardwell, Sister Jean Burke, and nephew Keith Burke. He is survived by his wife Billie Cardwell, daughters and sons-in-law Jackie & Ben Shockley, and Joye & Darryl Danna, Grandson Austin Danna, sister Faye Bridges, several nieces and nephews, and special friends J.C. Sutherland, Eugene Merritt, Bill Anderson, and Phil Crye Sr. Special thanks to Holston Health & Rehab for their excellent care. Funeral Service will be held 7pm Wednesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with Rev. David Smith officiating & Bryan Yow singing. Family and friends will meet 9:45 on Thursday at Clapps Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery for a 10am Interment Service. Family will receive friends 5-7pm Wednesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to Clapps Chapel United Methodist Church.
